Arturo Fuente Cigar Factory The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation (CFCF) began in 2001 when long time cigar industry business partners, the Fuente and Newman families, formalized the dream of improving people’s lives in the mountainous Bonao region of the Dominican Republic.

By focusing on families, they hoped to give the children in this cigar producing region an opportunity for a better future. Consisting for five rural communities, the region suffers from extreme poverty, an overcrowded and inadequate educational system, poor water quality which greatly affects the population’s health and additionally, there is little or no means of transportation for sustainable employment in the area. What began as a plan to add a wing onto an existing school has grown into the 23 acre Cigar Family Complex. This Complex includes a primary and secondary school a health center, an organic farming program, and a sports and recreational facility. Through the Cigar Family Complex, children and families are being provided with the resources and tools they need to help themselves create opportunities for their future. The founding families are committed to ensuring a positive and productive future for the children of the area. Born in 1887, Arturo Fuente learned the art of cultivating top quality tobacco and manufacturing handmade cigars from his father in Cuba. After immigrating to the United States and finally settling in Tampa, Florida's famous Ybor City, Arturo rolled his first cigar bearing the Fuente family name. Arturo Fuente is still a family company after all these years, representing four generations of family tradition, and is internationally recognized as the world's finest cigar maker.

Did you know that in 1912, Arturo Fuente took a leap of faith and founded his own company based out of his home. That same year on the 1st of March, Albert Berry jumped from a Benoist pusher biplane from 1,500 feet (457 m) and landed successfully at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. The 36 foot (11 m) diameter parachute was contained in a metal canister attached to the underside of the plane - when Berry dropped from the plane his weight pulled the parachute from the canister. Rather than being attached to the parachute by a harness Berry was seated on a trapeze bar. On behalf of my sister Cynthia, my brother Ricky and the entire Fuente Family, as well as the Arturo Fuente Cigar Company, I would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for the outpouring of love we have received regarding the passing of our patriarch, Carlos A. Fuente, Sr.

My father was not only a pioneer in the cigar industry, but he was also an amazing family man who will be sorely missed by so many. His legacy, however, will remain with us forever as we continue his tradition of hard work, perseverance and dedication.

My father always said, "I never cared about being the largest cigar manufacturer, I only cared about being the best."

There are times when fate has other plans for us, and this is one of those times.
As you know, we planned to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Arturo Fuente cigars this year with several special events. However, fate stepped in and handed us a series of personal and professional challenges that have made this year a trying time. As a result, we have decided to postpone our celebrations for a year. In 2013, we plan to celebrate “YEAR ONE” of the next century of the Arturo Fuente Family of cigars. We look forward to sharing the next century with you.
